    Hi,

Im new to the forums and recently got more and more interested in drinking whisky. I was wondering how long a person would need to start being able to nose all the different aromas, and figuring out the taste.

And could you also recommend some beginner friendly single malts (12 year olds prefferably) that i could practice with.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

welcome to the forum. It depends on what you want to find. If you just want to find peat smoke. Get yourself an Lagavulin 16 and you will find it right away.
If you want to find the violet note Bowmore it will take you a bit longer. It took me about half a year to get most of the more obvious flavours. But I kind of grew up with whisky (16-up till now).

For beginner friendly malts I would recommend Balvenie 12 (try to find the citrus) or you have a look here. Under 4. you will find a good collection for beginners.

    I work for whisky.com
