Have tried this single malt I bought last week and it is good..not memorable but nice and smooth.Horst strongly recommends Glenfarclas 12,so that may be my next purchase....or perhaps a Cragganmore, which I have only tried in a nearby tavern.Sticking to Speyside malts.....do not like peaty, smoky whisky at all...too medicinal!Byeeeee..
I find that by the time I get to half way down the bottle, the nose improved quite perceptibly.
Nosing: Just like Horst said! Sweet, orange citrus, honey, light vanilla! Wonderful!
Taste: Sweet, spicy, oaky, sherry comes out later. Dark chocolate. I tasted no bitterness. Smooth
Finish: Rather long legs. Spicy, cinnamon, creamy, sherry really comes out on finish.
Comment: I tried this bottle because Horst liked it! Was he ever spot on! It is delicious. $65 per bottle in Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I really LOVE Speysides like Aberlour, Glenfarclas. This Balvenie 12 Double Wood is glorious. Getting another couple bottles for my vault!!
