Glenrothes Distillery in the Speyside and the label Glenrothes Single Malt Whisky are reunited

The family owned company Edrington and Berry Bros. & Rudd, wine and spirits merchants announced the conclusion of an important transaction: The label The Glenrothes was bought back and returned to Edrington which has been owner of the Glenrothes Distillery and its cooperage since 1887.

In 2010 Edrington had sold the whisky label Glenrothes to Berry Bros. & Rudd (BBR) who had done the marketing for Glenrothes since 1987. The distillery itself remained under the Edrington roof. In return the Cutty Sark whisky went to Edrington. During the last seven years BBR has made Glenrothes a respectably and repeatedly rewarded label. Now they sold it back to Edrington for an undisclosed sum.

The global international distribution will be in Edrington’s hands except regarding the UK. Here Berry Bros. & Rudd will remain distributor and here Brand Ambassador Ronnie Cox will represent Glenrothes further on.
