Glenallachie 15 Year Old: New release joins the core range of the distillery

Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso casks provide for a rich finish

The Glenallachie Distillery has been on the market with a core range of four single malts for a year now. The new Glenallachie 15 Year Old now joins the 10-, 12-, 18- and 25-year-old editions.

The Glenallachie 15 yo got an extensive finish in sherry casks.

Master Distiller Billy Walker said in a press release: “I’ve been working on our 15 year old release since we acquired GlenAllachie back in October 2017. In that time I’ve been intimately following the development of the various casks and I believe the 15 year old is the perfect balance of distillery and cask influence.”

He added: “For this 15 year old, I chose PX and Oloroso puncheons and hogsheads to deliver complete depth and finish. This whisky is rich in sweet spices, raisins and butterscotch, with waves of banana, orange peel and dark chocolate. The extra years the whisky spent maturing in the sherry wood casks extends the flavour further."

The Glenallachie 15 yo is bottled at 46% vol and will soon appear on the international markets.

While waiting for the 15-year-old you could try the Glenallachie Pedro Ximenez Wood Finish to get an impression how a PX sherry finish affects the Glenallachie. It is 12 years old, the last two of them spent in PX sherry casks. The limited release is part of the Wood Finish series of Glenallachie.
