GoT series of single malts and a special release of Johnnie Walker announced

A short video clip on twitter has caused much attention since July 19 among whisky friends – among whisky friends that are fans of Game of Thrones, to be exact: „Honor the great houses and the Night's Watch with the Game of Thrones Single Malt Scotch Whisky Collection, coming this fall. Eight single malt scotch whiskies by Lagavulin, Oban, Singleton, Talisker, Cardhu, Royal Lochnagar, Dalwhinnie, Clynelish”, Lagavulin twittered.

Seven kingdoms and the night watch

At the same time eight labels became known that can be found in the data base of the American Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau TTB. Eight Labels that make reference to the TV series Game of Thrones and that give some information on the single malts we can expect (but please keep in mind that pending labels are a strong indicator but are no secured notification). Those Labels prefigure the following eight single malts, corresponding with the Great Houses of the Seven Kingdoms and in addition to the Night Watch:

  • House Baratheon - Royal Lochnagar 12 yo, 40% ABV
  • House Greyjoy - Talisker Select Reserve, 45.8% ABV
  • House Lannister - Lagavulin 9 yo, 46% ABV
  • House Stark - Dalwhinnie Winter’s Frost, 43% ABV
  • House Targaryen - Cardhu Gold Reserve, 40% ABV
  • House Tully - The Singleton of Glendullan Select, 40% ABV
  • House Tyrell - Clynelish Reserve, 51.2% ABV
  • The Night’s Watch - Oban Bay Reserve, 43% ABV

Watching the start of the final season of Game of Thrones with a matching whisky

The release is terminated for fall 2018 and thus lies several months before the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones will start which probably will be in early 2019. Enough time to buy a bottle and be prepared for the first episode of the final season. Another Whisky that is also dedicated to the Game of Thrones was announced some weeks ago: Johnnie Walker White Walker, a Blended Scotch Whisky, that will present 41,7 % ABV. An explicit recommendation that is given on the label is no surprise for GoT fans: White walkers like it frozen – winter is coming!
