Silver Outstanding for whisky from German Kammer-Kirsch Distillery

Since 2009 Kammer-Kirsch Distillery has released a new batch of the Black Forest Single Malt Whisky every year in cooperation with the Rothaus Brewery. Taking part in international spirits competition like the World Spirits Award WSA or the Berlin International Spirits Competition BISC the Label has successfully won several prices. So it now did in the International World Spirits Competition IWSC: This year the 2017 Edition of the Black Forest Single Malt was awarded Silver Outstanding, the highest award that German whiskies won this year in the IWSC. Aside from Kammer-Kirsch only Spreewood Distillers with its Stork Club Rye Whiskey Cask Finish and The Westfalian with the German Single Corn Whiskey could win Silver Outstanding.

Brewery and distillery at different locations

The production of the Black Forest Single Malt Whisky starts at the Badische Staatsbrauerei Rothaus in the Black Forest. Here at the traditional brewery that among others produces the famous Tannenzäpfle Beer the mashing and fermentation of the malt is done with the soft Rothaus brewing water. The following distillation is done at Karlsruhe by the Kammer-Kirsch Distillery. After the double distillation in copper pot stills the Black Forest Single Malt Whisky is matured in ex-Bourbon casks. For special releases as the Black Forest Lemberger Cask Finish or the Black Forest Sherry Cask Finish other casks are used, too.

Black Forest Single Malt Whisky shows fruity-spicy profile

This high decorated 9th edition of the Black Forest Single Malt Whisky presents sweet-spicy aromas of vanilla, raisins, dark chocolate, dried plums and apricots. The long finish is characterized by notes of fruits, roasting flavors and oak. While the special editions usually are bottled at cask strength this Black Forest Single Malt Whisky offers 43% ABV as the previous editions.
