The Production
The Aichinger company is not originally a distillery, but a winery that produces wine and fortified wines as well as liqueur.
The Pot Stills
Unfortunately we don't have knowledge about the distillery. If you have photos or infos please feel free to post them or send an email.
The Warehouse
The warehouse of the Aichinger distillery lies in the Alps. This is a very special climate, as the winter is a lot colder and the summer is a lot hotter, than in Scottland.
The choice of cask at the Aichinger distillery are Barrique wine barrels. This makes the Whisky very dark and adds a nice fruitiness.
History
The Aichinger winery was opened in 1997 and started producing the first wine in 2000. Soon they began to expand their product range including the Barrique wines. These casks are then used for the maturation of the whisky. It is unclear if the distillery will continue production.
