Exceptional for a Bourbon, showing meticulous care in barrel selection and aging regimen.
Almost more akin to brandy and rum, this Pappy shows fragrant aromas of violet and graphite. It hides the new, charred oak incredibly well and accordingly lacks the overpowering, overt vanilla, caramel and sour mash notes found in most Bourbons.
Similarly on the palate, the oak contribution is measured and balanced, with clean, toasty tannins instead of bitter, charred flavours.
Exceptional intensity and length. Possibly one of the very few Bourbons I truly enjoy. Marked down for hype and price development.
