Comment:
This is a delicious dram very underappreciated I must say. The nose is elegant, nice, very honey sweet and may not invite us enough to what actually happen on the palete. Palete is surprisingly strong. It develops in mouth into very strong and sweet oak, goes with some dry fruits but on the background and then burst into pepper which stays a long time for a nice finish and develop into dark chocolate. For this price, no coloring and unchillfiltration this is one of my favorite unpeated whisky.

Comment: It is always pleasing when an affordable, standard bottling from a distillery exhibits depth and complexity. Tobermory's 10-year old expression is a great example of just such an experience.
This whisky's nose is a fine mix of fruit, distillery character (mild bitter/salt notes), and a savory edge. I do not get the heavy maritime influence that other reviews place at the fore. A slight hint of salt and a bit of umami (leather) are the only steps in that direction.
Tobermory 10-year old holds up well on the palate and through its finish. There is a tail-end coffee element in this, as well as other Tobermory offerings, that links a dessert-like sweetness and walnut bitterness together nicely. This is a quality whisky from begin to end, and all around.
