Nosing:
Sweet smokiness of a dying wood burning fire with the richness of ripen plums.
Taste:
The initial pepper on the tongue soon develops into a peatiness with a difference. A creamy smokiness mingled with spice and dark fruits.

Long lingering dry smokiness

Comment: For me among three Taliskers I've tried, this one is in the middle. Better than D.E. (yes, I am shocked as well) but much worse than my favourite 10. It is surprisingly nice for NAS, not to harsh in terms of alcohol. If I am not looking at the label, this is quite nice whisky in a good price, fruity (mostly plum), peppery, smoky in a way Talisker 10 is. But when I know it's Talisker I feel like its just not what I am looking for having tried perfect 10.

Comment: Quite pleasent, but not very interesting. The smell is more thin than I expected, however, the taste is stronger than I expected.

Nosing: Peat SmokeBerriesSweet

Taste: Initially Sweet and Fruit followed by intense Cinnamon and Chili

Finish: long and mouthwatering Peat SmokePepper and Sweet

Comment: Not nearly as complex as the Distillers Edition (D.E.), but still enjoyable. While talisker is known for their "chilli catch", the palate reminded me A LOT of cinnimon candies (kind of the same thing, I guess). As the bottle settled down after a few months, the chilli/cinnamon became increasingly replaced by the berries and fruit of the port, especially in the nose.

To me, this seemed to be the least smoky talisker I've had (although still plenty of smoke)...maybe the port covered it up. If you find that the D.E. has a little too much ham, leather and smoke, this fruity, sweet and spicy alternative might be for you!
