Nosing:
sherry; specifically those cherry brandy chocolates...only more expensive!
Transitions to a weird (but not unpleasant) oakiness...might be the mizunara, might be the power of sugestion

Taste:
a little hot (though some will say "intense"), mouthcoating and heavy/oily, sherry, spices...very complex and well-stuctured. takes well to breathing quite a bit

Finish:
long, very dry with dark chocolate and a faint trace of coffee beans...?

Comment:
Don't get me wrong. This is a very enjoyable whiskey and makes a delightful nightcap....but, personally, I don't think it's worth the money ("gasps fill the room"!). I fully acknowledge that my palate might not be refined enough to fully appreciate the nuances, but I'm a little embarrassed to say the Yama 18 is over-hyped. I'm apparently an exception to the rule, though, so please take that into consideration
