Taste:

Finish: Medium, slightly bitter

Comment: What a great whisky. Very complex, even though it is a NAS whisky. The aromas somewhat resemble a bourbon, which, I think, does make sense since this whisky was matured in the first-fill American oak casks. The nose is sweet and creamy with honey dominating, and the honey aroma reminds me the fresh honey just extracted from cells of a beehive. The palate is oaky and spicy at the beginning, but then it becomes fruity and sweet with notes of a baked red apple, cinnamon, honey and zesty citric fruit. The finish is oaky and nutty with a light grapefruit-like bitterness.
The fruity notes resemble not the ripe fruit, but rather a fruit pie or a cake. The official tasting notes say that there is a ginger on a palate, but I personally think that it is rather a zesty citric note. Anyway, I have enjoyed this whisky a lot, and I think it is very worth trying. Looking forward to trying the Scapa 16 years old))

Finish: Medium; mostly smooth with a little bite
Comment: To me, not terribly complex or peaty, but it is quite pleasant and accessible. Peppery and light.
