Laphroaig Triple Wood

This special bottling was matured in three different casks: Ex-bourbon casks, European oak casks (ex-sherry) and small quarter casks. The result is the perfect mix of peat smoke, oak and sweetness.

Nosing: Smokey, but instead of the brininess of laphroaig, a sherry sweetness! Maple syrup, sugary fruits, oak, and very slight hint of vanilla Rauch Sherry Süße Früchte Eiche

Taste: Mouthwateringly spicy, the sweetness dominates the peat, I would never be able to pick this as a laphroaig in a blind test. Almost the same as the nose, I have syrup, sweet fruits, oaky vanilla, and just the tiniest hint of peat smoke the end, although that could well be in my mind..... Früchte Eiche Vanille

Finish: I want to say the finish is short, but I think it is a mechanic of the drams intensity. This is just as forward as my other favorites from the distillery, but sweet instead of medicinal.

Comment: I really like this, it is familiar as I finish the dram, but unlike any previous laphroaig before it. Another bottle that will be kept on hand!
