Powerful peat smoke and medical notes, which are very good of bourbon vanilla and the tannins of European oak involved.
Taste:
Amazing sherry sweet and fruity. Something unusual for a Laphroaig. But smoke and vanilla dominate the taste.
Finish:
Smoky and long. Repeats the sherry.

Comment: really amazing aroma, sweet, long finish

Taste:

Finish: Moderate and smoky
Comment: Instantly powerful, complex and smoky. Lead firmly by an unmistakable amount of peat and minor medicinal notes this whisky is highly wooded; old musty wood, spiced oak and sweet sherry. It retains a sweetness of vanilla and fruit yet boasts a welcomed saltiness of the sea breeze and a pepperiness that warms the tongue.

Comment: I really recommend adding a few drops of water to this whisky – it really brings the sweetness in front.

Taste: Mouthwateringly spicy, the sweetness dominates the peat, I would never be able to pick this as a laphroaig in a blind test. Almost the same as the nose, I have syrup, sweet fruits, oaky vanilla, and just the tiniest hint of peat smoke the end, although that could well be in my mind.....

Finish: I want to say the finish is short, but I think it is a mechanic of the drams intensity. This is just as forward as my other favorites from the distillery, but sweet instead of medicinal.
Comment: I really like this, it is familiar as I finish the dram, but unlike any previous laphroaig before it. Another bottle that will be kept on hand!
