Lagavulin 16 Years

The classic Lagavulin is kilned with a high smoke content in the malt. The stills are pear-shaped, so that all flavors can be passed on to the condensers during distillation. The single malt then matures in bourbon and sherry casks to completion.

Tasting notes of Joshmang123:

05. Feb 2016
Nosing: HUGE peat smoke, charcoal, earthiness

Taste: peat smoke, BBQ smoke and sweetness, iodine

Finish: medium - smoke, smoke, smoke, fading smoke

Comment: I'm not big into smoke and peat but when I'm in the mood, this is one of my go to's.

Nosing: Thick and robust and smoky. Peaty and seaweed. A little brine and saltiness.

Taste: Smoky and smooth with a strong start. Slight sweetness to counter the peaty smoke. A touch of medicine but compliments well. Complex and dark.

Finish: Long and smoky with a little of the brine coming out.

Nosing: Intense Peat Smoke

Taste: I get saltiness first, followed quickly by a deep, dull sweetness (i.e. not sharp like candy), and lastly peat

Finish: Strong, pleasant peat
