Nosing: Rauch Honig Vanille
Sweet peat smoke, honey.

Taste: Rauch Süße Salz
Sweet arrival, remains relatively sweeth throughout. Medium to high peat usage, nothing over the top. Some light liquorice flavours coming through. Salty tang.

Finish: Rauch Pfeffer Süße
Finishes medium to long and fairly sweet. Black pepper and peat

Comment:
This is very similar in my books to Lagavulin 16. It differs primarily in that it isn't as fruity and is peated slightly lighter. It does however come across as quite a bit sweeter. In all honesty, there's a lot to like about it. It is a fairly straightforward NAS whisky with a good belt of peat. Not over the top in complexity, but reasonably priced (£43) at the time of writing. Some people have said it has a heavy marine character, but I don't really get that other than a saltiness on the palate. Worth a try.
