Glenmorangie 12 Years Lasanta
Lasanta means warmth and passion in Gaelic. After ten years in American white oak casks, it is finished in Oloroso and PX sherry casks for two further years. Through this maturation process the Lasanta gets its round and balanced taste.

Comment: Brilliant! I purchased a sampler four-pack of Glenmorangie Original (10 y/o), Quinta Ruban finish (12 y/o), Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish (12 y/o), and Nectar D'Or (Sauterne Cask finish). My son-in-law and I rated them, and originally we liked the Original 10 y/o best. But upon further tasting, I find the LaSanta exquisitely fresh, sweet, yet sherry intense and luscious!! I may have to change my rating of this wonderful dram. An absolute "buy" for a whisky that is easy drinking, yet complex enough to challenge the nose and palette. Definitely great stuff for the price!

Comment: Compared side by side to the Glenmorangie 10, this seems more sherry influenced, which is obvious. Gone are the strong vanilla (bourbon) flavors, somewhat replaced by a more woody flavor, berry and savory notes (sherry). On a 1-10 scale i'd rate it as 8.5 whereas the glenmorangie 10 would get a 8/10. It's different and more complex, however "better" would depend on which taste profile you like best. For a more "pleasant" sweet whisky go for the 10yo.

Taste: Apple, pear, peach, citrus flavors rounded off by sherry notes, cranberry. Just a touch of sweetness. Ends with banana muffin.
Finish: Finishes slightly dry with an almost dried cranberry flavor
Comment: Nice touch to the original Glenmorangie. Adds more body and richness.
