Nosing: SherryDried FruitZitrusSweet
Immediate sherry nose. Fruity and citrussy, almost lime notes. Honey and butter toffee sweetness.

Taste: Dried FruitRaisinLemon PeelOak
Sweet arrival, amost immediately dries out a bit. Dried fruit, particularly raisin. Lemon peel develops towards the end. Toffee throughout. Some oak builds up towards the end keeping the sweetness under control.

Finish: OakSpicesNuts
Long, very long. Lots of residual sweetness, spicy oakiness and some nuttiness.

Comment:
I've yet to come across a Glenfarclas that I truly dislike. This is however a bit of a strange beast compared to their other standard releases. It is a great deal heavier on the oak than the rest of the range, but not unpleasantly so. You definitely have to treat it differently though. If you just pour and go with this one it comes across as awkward and disjointed. However, if you give it half a teaspoon of water and leave it in the glass for 10 minutes it completely transforms. The nose is truly excellent, and while I think the oak levels are a little too high overall, it still represents really good value given the price for a 1 litre release. Not as good as the 15 year old in my opinion, but definitely worth picking up over some of the other things you see in duty free these days.

Nosing:SweetOakZitrusHoney Fresh sweetness, oak and citrus overpower the sherry notes, which seem subtle to me. My first thought of the nose on this is a reminder of dalwhinnie..... more powerful of course.

Taste: HoneySherryHamLime Wow--- Honey sherry and very light smoke/ham up front , lime as the taste develops... this is very nice.... complex flavors, little heat, and very approachable. Nice oily coating on the palate helps the honeyed flavors persist. To me, this is a grown-up, refined dalwhinnie.

Finish:SherryRaisinVanilla long and gentle... very nice yet subtle finish. the finish is discreet, but good!

Comment:This is a solid dram, wish it was more available in the US..... I will be stocking up on this one, and it will be a good introduction to anyone who is new to single malts. Very easy to drink, yet complex and fun. The first scotch that I tried was dalwhinnie, which I liked because it was sweet and not overpowering. This is like dalwhinnies older, much more developed sister! I bought this bottle because of online reviews and the great rating here, and must say that it is one of the best single malts my young palate has tasted! Amazing.

In my opionon Glenfarclas 18, its a verry good spirit value for money. You shold try. Unfortunately, when I did the tasting, the bottle were almost empty, the air oxidizing the whiskey very much.
