As one of the best-selling Blended Scotches in the world (after JW Black Label), Chivas Regal 12 certainly stands out from the crowd of cheap and low quality alternatives. Fruity and slightly aromatic notes with honey, caramel and vanilla characterize the nose. No exiting features or great complexity can be found though. The lead malt Strathisla 12 comes through in the taste: it is light and sweet with creamy honey, red apples, toffee and a pleasant nuttiness. Old refill cask bitterness remains of a quickly gone finish. A flawless but uneventful blended whisky with age statement.

Taste: light sweetness, very oily, Apple Fruit Oak Malt Vanilla Honey Spices Ginger

Finish: short, dry, oily

Comment: Not a bad whisky whatsoever. Even though it is a mass product, I have enjoyed this whisky. It is uncomparable to other fruity whiskies like Glenfiddich or Strathisla in terms of complexity, but I think Chivas is still quite nice and worth trying.

Nosing: Fruit Vanilla Caramel Honey Spices Nutmeg Chocolate
Sweet and spicy, with notes of vanilla, honey, and fresh fruits. Can find some nutmeg in the background. Citrus peel and bubble gum. Longer exposure to oxygen gives some chocolate with hight cocoa content.

Taste: Oil Caramel Cinnamon Nutmeg Herbs Oak Alcohol
Oily and light. Butterscotch with fresh ripe fruits and some cinnamon and nutmeg. I feel some herbs, but I'm unsure what's that (lemon balm?). Wood bitterness and a light alcohol bite.

Finish: Caramel Oak
Not so short, sweet with woody aftertaste.

Comment:
Quite nice everyday whisky.
