Medium to high intensity. Mostly malt led, with spiciness. Clove, cardamom, cinnamon. Roasted coffee/mocha. There is some raisin like dried fruit in there as well. Definite cocoa over time.
Taste:

Medium to intense arrival, slightly sweet, but immediately balanced out by wood influence. Lots of mixed fruit notes, red apple, banana, cherry. As it goes on, more spice comes forward.
Finish:

Medium to long. Spicy, ginger heat. Mocha / Coffee. Cinnamon and nutmeg.
Comment:
For a 12 year old you really get a lot in this package. It's not 100% the style I usually go for in whisky, the different casks are bringing a lot of different things to the table at the same time. It does work well together though. The nose opens up after you've had a couple of sips, with a lot more cocoa powder coming through. On the palate it's very dense and complex, and the gingery heat on the finish is the only real indication of it's relative youthfulness. Lots and lots going for this one, and at a very reasonable price. A definite buy.
