Nosing: Gewürze Nelke Zimt Banane Süße Schokolade
Strong and spicy, lots of cloves and cinnamon, a touch of that horseradish note I usually get from rye whisky. Banana fruit showing through after a while in the glass. Dark sugars reminiscent of rum. As it is left in the glass, the spiciness dies back a bit and a milk chocolate note comes forward.

Taste: Gewürze Nelke Pfeffer Ingwer Süße
Sweet arrival, flavour intensity builds over time. Lots of dark sugar and spiciness, predominantly clove and pepper. Fresh ginger heat.

Finish: Eiche Gewürze Pfirsich
Medium to long. Continued spice and wood notes and relatively dry. At the end there's a light residual fresh fruit flavour, like peach or apricot.

Comment:
This is a part of a tasting set I'm working my way through. I've not reviewed a great many american whiskies, but this is one I'll be coming back to for sure. The nose changes a great deal over time which is interesting. Initially it was very fiery, but about 20 minutes later it had calmed down a great deal. On the palate it is a powerful thing and reminds me a lot of homemade ginger biscuits with fiery fresh ginger root in them. The finish is fitting and long. All together a very good package and it packs in a ton of flavour. It is a bit pricey, but it is essentially a cask strength release, and there's ton of quality there. Worth looking out for.
