Nosing: Honig Orange Tropische Früchte Vanille
Very aromatic nose, lots of honey and vanilla. Fresh/Tropical fruit and orange juice.

Taste: Honig Zitrus Zimt
Sweet arrival. Again, lots of honey, mixed citrus fruits. Remains relatively sweet, but the oak starts to come forward as it develops as well as a light sourness. Some light sweet spiciness developing.

Finish: Gewürze Zimt Honig
Medium/long, residual spiciness, still honey notes.

Comment:
This is the first Balblair I've tried, and I have to say I'm impressed. I've never come across a malt before that had such a concentrated honey note in it. Normally when I try whisky where that flavour comes up it's because it is relatively young, and while this does show some youthful characteristics in its bright fruit flavours and sweetness, it doesn't feel 'underbaked' as it were. I think the higher bottling strength definitely helps in this regard. Definitely one worth trying, and beats the pants off a lot of other standard releases at a comparible age/price.
