All tasting notes

Light spices, Cinnamon and clove. Fruit peels, particularly orange. Dark brown sugar. Comes across as a very mature expression of a sherry matured malt. The spicy notes remind me of well matured rye whisky, which might be the mixed casks showing.
Taste:

Very intense balanced arrival. Honey and ginger, very viscous mouthfeel. Spiciness rises as it develops.
Finish:

Medium long, oaky, lots of residual dried fruits, some nuttiness. Somewhat drying.
Comment:
This is a really good official bottling. Lots going on here, and offered at a decent price. It definitely comes across as a more mature version of the 18Y, but it doesn't have quite the visceral punch of its younger counterpart. The fruit is darker and the oak is coming forward a lot more. I think I prefer the 18, but there is a great deal to like here. Definitely work trying.
