Akashi 12 Years - 1997 Luna
Eigashima distillery may be the smallest and least well known of Japan's whisky makers, but it boasts the longest history in the business, its license to produce whisky having been granted in 1919. The current distillery ["White Oak Distillery"], on the Akashi strait near Kobe, was built in 1984. Whisky is only produced for one (occasionally two) months a year and their stock is very limited indeed. This 12-year old was, in fact, the oldest malt in their warehouse at the time of bottling. It is brought to you at cask-strength with no chill-filtering or colourings of any kind, strictly limited to 102 bottles only.
