Nosing: very salty, without water alcohol punch, with water sweet - salty, mineral, fresh, just a hint of smoke.
Taste: Very salty, candy sweetness dancing with saltiness, peanuts, typicall Lagavulin smoke, but more fresh, light and cigarette like than in Lagavulin 16YO.
Finish: rather medium
Comment: I do recommend to add water, it is ok to drink it as it is, because the taste is not killing with volume, but water open so much in taste, it seems to be much more complex.
Generally I think Lagavulin helds water pretty well, even quite a lot of water, it seems to be more interesting.
Comparing to 16YO it is complitly different but still you can say it's Lagavulin. Cannot say if it's better or not, but in my opinion if you like this destillery you will like this expression. For sure you cannot go wrong with it. What is quite impressing is that they putted age on the label, even if this whisky is less than 10 years instead of going for NAS, and for me it feels like so much more mature than a lot of 10 YO whiskys on the market. There is no color added, so that's another big plus for this young gentelman. Personally I still prefer 16YO, but that might be a choice of mood.
