Comment:
Immediately sherry. Then dried fruits and fresh apple and red berries. There is also a sort of herbal/tobacco note. This definitely needs to sit in the glass for 10-15 mins to open up. It is very tight initially but given time becomes quite pungent.
Taste:
Sweet arrival, dark berries, sherry and underlying wood tartness. Sweet cinnamon spiciness, transitions into sour fruits, cherries.
Finish:
Medium to long, the fruitiness diminishes, leaving a spicy finish, cloves and cinnamon.
Comment:
I got this as something to take home and share with my brother and dad at christmas. I'm totally satisfied in the selection, it really is a great special occasion malt. There's quality in the presentation throughout, and while it is fairly expensive, it definitely delivers for the price. Top marks.

Taste: christmas cake and spices
Finish: spices fade after a minute.
Comment: I often hear Glengoyne as a replacement for Macallan, but I don't think it is. It is a great whisky in it's own right. Wish it was at a higher ABV, but still a great complex sherried whisky.
