Benrinnes 15 Years
Astonishingly peaty is the Aroma of this mature and strong Benrinnes malt. The peat smoke level adds to the dry and fruity Taste and Finish. Also very noticeable are the intense spices. This Flora & Fauna Series is often recognized as the original.

Comment:
I'm not sure if I got a bad bottle of this or what. Initially on opening it had a really odd smell about it, sort of like that additive that the gas company adds to natural gas so that you can smell leaks. It dissipated after about a week of being open (I had to let it air for a while with the cork out). I have to say, I'm pretty disappointed with this release. I've really enjoyed all the independent bottlings of Benrinnes I've tried to date, but this is just not right. The nose still has that slightly odd note to it. On the palate it is relatively ok, but it has this odd wood sap component towards the end which is quite unpleasant. The finish is pretty boring and short lived. I'd try it again some time down the road just to see if I got unlucky with the bottle (the cork was fine etc, so no idea what was going on if anything).
