The Whisky Success Story1
The Whisky Success Story In the middle of the 1880s Alfred Barnard visited the malt whisky distilleries of Scotland and described them in his book 'The Whisky Distilleries of the United Kingdom'. From today's perspective the old world seems idyllic. Many small whisky distilleries handcrafted

Bourbon - Grain Selection and Mixture (Mash Bill)
Bourbon - Grain Selection and Mixture (Mash Bill) Each distillery has its own recipe for the grain mixture. The law requires a Kentucky straight bourbon whiskey to have a corn content of at least 51%. However, the corn content is usually higher (between 60% and 80%).
Bourbon - Storage
Bourbon - Storage Each distillery has their own preferences for storing the barrels. Willet - Warehouses In the past warehouses with a height of 4 to 5 floors were built. On each floor between 3 and 6 layers of barrels are stored.
Bourbon - Water
Bourbon - Water Fresh spring water is needed for whiskey production so the starch in the grain can be cooked and the developing sugar extracted. Distilleries were therefore built near springs that yielded enough water. Jack Daniel's - Spring in the limestone l

1986 Jack Daniels
I have a 1986 Jack Daniels 1.75L unopened (sealed).  It was won in a golf tournament for hole-in-one.   I'm wondering if there's any value to it?

Is bourbon boring? Or am I wrong?
@DramTasticVoyage For the longest time, Scotch had been the only spirit I drank.  Tried some on a port call in Faslane, Scotland.  Took a trip to Edinburgh and visited the Scotch Heritage museum.  After seeing the effort and variety of Scotch available, and trying samples of diff
I need your wise advice my friends ..
Hi friends!. I am Nicolás de Argentina, a new follower and new user from this forum. This community sounds great and very informative. I love the way they explain and share their knowledge. I am very new to the world of whiskey. In fact, I still did not have the opportunity to try a single malt. Unt
American regulations around colouring.
Hi. Having just watched your video on Jack Daniels and Jim Beam I thought I would go away and re-read the regulations surrounding Bourbon again as it has been a while since I last saw them. I found them quite awkward to follow and wanted to see if you read them in the same way as me regarding colour

Picked up this book on sale today. The authors provide their personal rating on a scale of 1 to 9. Most whiskies over 18 year old are rated 6 to 9. Which is understandable. But those usually are the pricy ones. I was more interested in something more affordable. I found that rating of 5 usually corr

with or without ice?
Yeah, I know that "Leuning...@horst_s Leuning" has spoken.  And while I don't completely disagree with him, I approach whiskies slightly differently.I will always have my first sip of the bottle neat.  I don't care if it's Aberlour Abunadh at 60% ABV, Balvenie 12yr, or Jack Daniels Old No.
