Writers' Tears Copper Pot Deau XO's Cognac Cask Finish released
Walshpresents a new edition of its popular
A new "super premium" edition, as the recently introduced Writer's Tears variation is described by the Irish company Walsh Whiskey, is now available in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, the Netherlands, Canada and the United States. It joins the classic Writer's Tears Copper Pot, the Writer's Tears Cask Strength with 53% and the Writers' Tears Red Head matured in Oloroso . This new release is the Writers' Tears Copper Pot Deau XO Cognac Cask Finish.
The name of the whiskey tells us: This Writers' Tears enjoyed a special in cognac . In a press release, Bernard Walsh talks about it: “Everything about this expression comes from the highest quality inputs, from our own unique of triple-distilled and aged , to the finish in French (Limousin) casks from the renowned family of Allary that have been seasoned by the Legaret family’s Deau XO Cognac for between 10 to 15 years. Everything builds to a special experience that we are very proud to put our own family name to and are delighted to share with fans of the Writers’ Tears portfolio, as well as those who might be trying a Writers’ Tears expression for the very first time. Sláinte!”
Producer’s tasting notes for the Writers' Tears Copper Pot Deau XO Cognac Cask Finish
Nose: Succulent notes of poached pear, summer berries, hints of freshly pressed grapes and citrus zest.
Taste: Creamy smoothness with rich chocolate undertones.
Finish: Floral and fruit aromas make way for an undeniably bold finish.
The whiskey is released during a very turbulent time for Walsh Whiskey: Two weeks ago, the end of the partnership between Walsh and Illva Saronno was announced, resulting in a split up of the company (we reported here). Bernhard and Rosemary Walsh will keep the ownership for the Writers' Tears.
