White Peak Distillery launches Wire Works Whisky Small Batch

A slightly smoky single malt from Derbyshire, England

The young White Peak Distillery had great success with their first whisky launched in February this year: The inaugural release of the Wire Works whisky - 5,000 numbered bottles - was sold out within a few hours. The next edition follows today, June 23: the Wire Works Whisky Small Batch. A total of 4,300 bottles are available in the distillery's online shop, on site in the distillery and from a few selected British retailers.

The Wire Works Whisky Small Batch follows the Inaugural Release in its recipe, but was only bottled at 46.2% ABV. The whisky is based on a mixture of English peated and unpeated malt. The four-day fermentation is carried out with special yeast from a local Peak District brewery. White Peak Distillery uses McMillan pot stills.

According to the press release, the Wire Works whiskey is a small batch bottling made from American and French oak: “… the spirit has been fully matured in predominantly STR casks (re-conditioned casks that have been shaved, toasted and re-charred) with a significant element of ex-bourbon”.
