The Edinburgh Whisky Academy offers online courses in several languages

Acquire certified whisky knowledge online

The Edinburgh Whisky Academy has been offering the opportunity to deepen their knowledge to those who are interested in whisky, beginners as well as advanced afficionados. The EWA offers face to face courses as well as online courses. The latter can also take place without any problems in Corona times and are therefore currently very popular. The EWA offers their Introduction to Whisky online certificate not only in English, but also in Spanish, French and German.

A team of well-known whisky experts

The Edinburgh Whisky Academie was founded in 2015 by Kirsty McKerrow, whose family is rooted in the whisky tradition and who was brand ambassador for Glenmorangie and Ardbeg. The academy's team includes whisky experts such as John Ramsay, long-time Master Blender at Edrington, Matt Healy, founder of the popular website, Dr. Gordon Steele, former director of the Scotch Whisky Research Institute and noted whisky journalists Dominic Roskrow and Blair Bowman.

For employees in the whisky sector and for private whisky lovers

Edinburgh Whisky Academy's course is certified by the Scottish Government's accreditation body for education, the Scottish Qualifications Authority. It is not only suitable for specialist salespeople and employees in the spirits industry, in bars or at retailers, but also for whisky lovers who want to acquire basic knowledge about the water of life for themselves or as bloggers. Knowledge about the history of whisky, raw materials, production and maturation and other related topics is imparted in eight modules.

The Introduction to Scotch Whisky certificate course is currently available here on the Edinburgh Whisky Academy website for £99. Participants can gradually work through the lessons at their own pace. A demo via this link offers a little insight into the design and process (This is an example for lessons in German).
