Swedish hotel holds world record for largest whisky offer

Official Guinness World Record for Hotel Skansen on Öland

In which bar would you face the hardest challenge to choose a whisky? If you are looking for a wide range you should spend your holidays on the Swedish island of Öland. There is the Hotel Skansen, which can offer 1179 different types of whisky - this is a world record, as the inspectors of GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS have now officially confirmed by certificate.

The former world record holder was the Scottish Glenesk Hotel in Edzel with 1031 different whiskys that are available on the market. When Fredrik Norén, hotel manager from Skansen, read about this, he began to ponder: Had he not collected more than 1000 whiskys? Norén is passionate about visiting distilleries all over the world, discovering new whiskies for his hotel.

He started to make an inventory of the whiskies in the bar and in the basement room that had been built especially for the whiskey collection. He counted 1179 whiskies. It took two months until everything was listed, verified and certificated by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS. Now Fredrik Norén proudly can stand in his bar and enjoy the glory of a world record - until a new challenger will successfully rise…
