Suntory purchases 10% shares of Edrington

This will intensify an already strong relationship

Suntory Holdings and Edrington have been working closely together for decades. The Japanese company is distribution for Edrington brands such as Macallan, Highland Park and Famous Grouse in many key markets and is already shareholder of Macallan, the leading brand of Edrington.

Edrington has now announced here on its website that Suntory Holdings has acquired a 10% shareholder ship of the parent company. There are no official statements regarding the sum.

Scott McCroskie, Edrington CEO, commented: “Edrington has a successful long-standing strategic partnership with Suntory. We share a similar ethos and the same passion for craftsmanship, innovation and quality in our brands. We look forward to cementing and building this deep relationship over the coming years.”

The deal would also have an inflow on funds for Edrington's main shareholder, the Robertson Trust, explains Edrington. As the largest independent grant-making trust in Scotland, the Robertson Trust is committed to many charity programs. Edrington’s employee share scheme is also supported.
