Suntory launches a special edition of Hibiki Japanese Harmony

Perfect designed and decorated with Japanese symbols for luck and celebration

It’s a beauty, this Hibiki Japanese Harmony bottle that Suntory introduced yesterday. The limited edition was created on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Hibiki and will be released on October 1st in selected countries, including Germany.

Aesthetics and the pursuit for perfect form have always been deeply rooted in Japanese culture. So it is hardly surprising that the contents of this very special bottle is not in the focus as the bottle itself. - it probably is the same Blended Whiskey as it is available as standard edition Hibiki Japanese Harmony since 2015. The bottle shape of the limited edition is the same ribbed one as we know it from this classic bottling, crowned by an exclusive glass cork.

Traditional symbols on an exceptional collector's bottle

It's the special design that makes this Hibiki edition so special. It is explained in the press release; “The bottle itself is inspired by a traditional kimono pattern and is embellished with the tabane-noshi, a Japanese symbol of celebration that has been added to precious gifts since ancient time”.

A work of art, a gift for the Christmas season, a design bottle - Suntory candidly advertises the artistic edition as a collector's item and it is unlikely that many of the bottles will be opened to enjoy the whisky. But why not release a bottling to please the eye? We can’t say whether the price will please you, too - it hasn’t been announced yet.

The Hibiki Japanese Harmony is one of the most popular and well-known Japanese whiskys in Germany. It is a blend of grain and malt whiskys of the Yamazaki, Hakushu and Chita Distillery, matured in ex-Sherry casks and those of Japanese Mizunara oak. It is bottled without age statement at 43% ABV.
