Have a look behind the scenes

The festival organizer's press release announces that more than 700 whisky-related events will take place in the Speyside region during the festival week. Tickets for tours of distilleries that are otherwise not open to the public are always very popular. In recent years, happy ticket holders have been able to have a look behind the scenes of Mortlach, Inchgower, Tamdhu, Roseisle and Glen Keith, for example. It hasn’t been revealed yet which distilleries will open their doors this year. Last year's festival program can still be found online here as a small teaser of what might await you.

A whisky mecca of a special kind

The Speyside Whisky Festival has been taking place since 1999 and has since developed into one of the largest festivals of this kind worldwide. In addition to distilleries and other companies involved in the whisky industry, enriching cooperation has also been developed with numerous local businesses and communities. The Spirits of Speyside Whisky Festival describes itself as “Mecca for the curious beginner and the whisky connoisseur alike” and this would probably be confirmed by anyone who has already participated in the festival.

Gin Experience and Distilled supplement the Whisky Festival

If someone is annoyed because the date of the Whisky Festival doesn’t fit for him he will have too more chances to get to know the variety of the Speyside’s spirits the: from July 10th to 12th, 2020, the "Gin Experience" will be inviting to meet the growing gin scene the Speyside. On August 28 and 29, 2020, spirits producers, master blenders and connoisseurs come together for the “Destilled” at Elgin Town Hall. Lauren Mustard, Events Coordinator of The Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival, said: “In addition to our flagship Whisky Festival, 2020 will also see the return of the Gin Experience and Distilled, a showcase of Speyside’s range of spirits. We look forward to welcoming visitors from across Scotland, as well as from across the globe, to enjoy the very best of Scotland in Speyside.”
