Scallywag Easter Edition 2020 released

The blended malt is dominated by sherry casks

We will celebrate Easter this year, even in these difficult Corona days. This time we will celebrate differently than we would like to, that is out of the question. Family and church service visits will be organized via Skype or Youtube and instead of festive dining in the restaurant, self-cooking or delivery service is required.

However, some things remain the same despite Corona: we don't have to forgo chocolate bunnies, Easter eggs and special Easter editions of some whisky labels, especially the Scallywag Easter Edition 2020 by Douglas Laing.

This year’s batch is the fourth one and it is again limited to only 600 bottles - the Scallywag Easter Edition is released especially for the German market. The Scallywag is a blended malt for which whiskies from the Speyside are married, for example include Glenrothes, Macallan and Mortlach.

Compared to the standard Scallywag release, a much higher proportion of sherry casks is used for the Easter Edition. The tasting notes speak of cooked fruit, orange, chocolate, cinnamon - almost sounds a bit like chocolate Easter eggs ...

The Scallywag Easter Edition 2020 was (as usual with Douglas Laing) neither colored nor chill filtered. It was bottled at 48% ABV.
