New releases of Gordon & MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice Series available

Single Casks and Multiple Casks Vintages

In 2018, independent bottler Gordon & MacPhail re-organized their product range and presented five upcoming whisky series: "Connoisseurs Choice", "Generations", "Discovery", "Private Collection" and "Distillery Labels".

There had been a Connoisseurs Choice series before, of course, but the new series presents quite differenet bottlings than the series before. Several single malts of the new Connoisseurs Choice series have already been released and they are great representatives of their new line: they are single-casks bottlings or batched from only a few casks and the series now also contains high-volume editions and whiskies with special maturations.

What they all have in common is that these single malts now show up as vintage bottlings. The labels present information on the whisky’s special characteristics, the type of casks, the year of distillation, the number of bottles, etc. A comprehensive aroma profile can now also be found on the labels of the Connoisseurs Choice bottles.

The bottlings that have arrived lately show the wide range of the Connoisseurs Choice series:

  • Caol Ila Conn. 29 years 1990/2019
  • Allt-A-Bhainne Conn. Cask Strength 13 yrs 2005/2019
  • Benriach Conn. Cask Strength 32 years 1987/2019
  • Highland Park Conn. Cask Strength 16 years 2002/2019
  • Glendullan Conn. 14 years 2004/2019
  • Tormore Conn. 24 years 1995/2019
  • Auchroisk Conn. Cask Strength 13 yrs 2005/2019
  • Strathmill Conn. 12 years 2006/2019

When the new Connoisseurs Choice series was launched in 2018, Stephen Rankin, Director of Prestige at Gordon & MacPhail and member of the fourth generation of the Urquhart family, owners of the company, said “Each whisky tells a story, not only about the distillery of origin and the casks maturing the spirit, but also about the time and patience devoted to nurturing each whisky to the pinnacle of its maturation potential. Many of the whiskies in our ranges have been tended by multiple generations of my family.”
