Nc'nean Distillery starts crowdfunding campaign to raise £1 million
The independent and organic distillery wants to launch its first whisky next year
In 2013, Annabel Thomas founded the Nc'nean Distillery on the Morvern Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland. Her aim is sustainable whisky production and to follow biodynamic principles. Since March 2017, the distillery has been in production now and the young distillery is about to fulfill its whisky- dream: For 2012, the launch of the first Nc'nean whisky is planned.
Nc'nean started a crowdfunding campaign these days to prepare and implement this launch of their whisky, purchase the necessary bottling equipment, and also enhance the development of other distillery products. Nc'nean wants to collect 1 million pounds on the platform Seedrs and a look here on the project side shows that this large sum is not at all utopian high set: Only one day after the project started 97% of the target sum are ensured.
Other Nc'nean distillery products have already become well-known: Nc'nean Botanical Spirit is a gin-like spirit based on the distillery's new make, redistilled with 10 botanicals at the fellow distillery Legn an Tuirc. A barrel aged version of this spirit was released as Aged Botanical Spirit.
The distillery is named after Neachneohain (also Nicnevin), a nature-loving fairy queen of Gaelic legends. Originally the name of the distillery was written Ncn'ean, meanwhile the apostrophe was officially postponed. As a result, the name does not read easier, but the pronunciation has remained the same: "Neck'nee-an", according to Annabel Thomas in a promo-video on Seedrs, that gives some insights into the distillery.
