Mortlach Six Kingdoms: Diageo presents the final edition of the Game of Thrones whisky series

The limited edition Mortlach Single Malt Whisky is 15 years old

With the last episode of the eighth season the TV series Game of Thrones has come to an end. Now Diageo introduces the final edition of the Game of Thrones Whisky Collection, the 15-year-old Mortlach Six Kingdoms. The single malt is described as "extremely limited", the exact number of available bottles is not revealed. Mortlach Six Kingdoms will be launched at the end of November and can be pre-ordered in several shops now.

Sherry cask maturation and a bourbon cask finish

The Mortlach Six Kingdoms was matured in first fill sherry casks and finished in ex-Bourbon barrels. The 15-year-old whisky was bottled at 46% ABV and will now be released as the ninth and final edition of the Game of Thrones whisky collection in cooperation of Diageo and GoT licensor HBO.

The ninth and final edition of the Game of Thrones collection

This collection has so far included eight single malts: seven were dedicated to the seven kingdoms of Westeros whose story is told in the Game of Thrones epos. An eighth edition honors the night’s watch, that’s guarding the wall in the far north of the empire. The now announced Mortlach Six Kingdoms as the ninth and final edition is inspired by the end of the cult series Game of Thrones: the North separates from the federation of the Seven that further on form the Six Kingdoms.

Packaging and label are designed in black and gold, decorated with an impressive drawing of a three-eyed raven. It is the raven who can look beyond the boundaries of time and space in the GoT series. A unique creature, as unique as the complicated 2.81 times distillation at Mortlach Distillery, the press release explains. Mortlach is one of Dufftown's erstwhile seven distilleries - Diageo's imaginative PR department hits a nice bridge to the former seven kingdoms of Game of Thrones.
