Metallica to build an own whiskey distillery
The American metal band is looking for the best place for its distillery
An own whiskey, produced in an own distillery – according to Dave Pickerell, former Master Distiller at Marker’s Mark, this is a project of Metallica in which he is involved as an expert partner.
Musikbands and whisky – this is a partnership that has already successfully been practiced several times: On the occasion of the 50th band anniversary The Rolling Stones released a whisky in cooperation with Suntory. The famous Swedish whisky distillery Mackmyra launched a Mackmyra Motörhead release and German whisky producer Ziegler created the Aureum The Grave Digger Single Malt together with the heavy metal band Grave Digger.
Metallica now wants to go one step further and doesn’t only plan a whiskey release but a whole distillery. The location for the plant might either be San Francisco as being the hometown of the band, Louisville as the home of the Bourbon or Nashville as the center of the American music scene.
There hasn’t been published more detailed information about the distillery plans of Metallica. Neither do we know anything about the size of the distillery nor about the style of the whiskey (Bourbon? Probably...) or the project’s time schedule.
