Mackmyra Bruks DLX is the new edition of the Moment series

The special version of the popular Bruks was matured for a longer time

 

The Swedish distillery Mackmyra presents the new edition of the Moment series: Mackmyra Bruks DLX will be launched on June 9th. It is an upscale and luxurious version of the Mackmyra classic Brukswhisky, as the manufacturer's current press release announces, for which the whisky was matured longer in the casks than for the classic Mackmyra Bruks.

„Brukswhisky has always had a place close to my heart. To be able to present this edition that is so typical Mackmyra, is a celebration to the original, but also stating that we are an established distillery. This is big. With increased age and longer period in casks the complexity is also elevated, but with a reinvigorated freshness and fruitiness,“ says Angela D'Orazio, Master Blender at Mackmyra

The Bruks pays homage to the company's original distillery in Mackmyra Bruks. The casks for this bottling were stored in the Bodås Mine for between 9 and 14 years before they were married by Angela D’Orazio to create this single malt, which is limited to 1,999 bottles. The whisky was bottled at 46.6% ABV. The price given by the distillery is 122.49 Euro.

Cask recipe of the Mackmyra Bruks

  • DLX Ex-Bourbon (200 L), elegant. Aged 14 years
  • Freshly saturated oloroso casks (128 l) filled with pre-aged 4-year-old ex-Bourbon whisky. Total age 9-11 years old
  • Swedish oak (100 L), filled with pre-aged 4-year-old ex-Bourbon whisky. Total age: 9 - 11 years old
  • Ex-Bourbon (100 L), filled with smoke-tail from 2010. Aged 11 years

Producer’s tasting notes

Nose: Soft vanilla with caramel, honey and chocolate. Finely roasted, bready notes of oak and spicy herbs with light tobacco leaves, leather, white pepper and eucalyptus. Soft, fruity notes of pears, citrus and a hint of raisins.

Taste: Buttery vanilla caramel, ripe pears and citrus. Soft, herbal spices with anise and pepper, light notes of roasted oak, peat and juniper.

Summary: Soft citrus and pear fruit that ends with slightly spicy notes of roasted oak and vanilla.
