Macallan Terra: Next bottling of the Quest Collection

The single malt was matured in seasoned first fill Sherry casks

The Macallan Quest Collection is the new series that replaces the Macallan 1824 bottlings. The four new releases are created to show the influence of wood by using whisky from different casks maturations.

One of it is the Macallan Terra that was only batched from first fill Sherry casks from American and European oak. The casks had been filled for a while with Sherry especially for Macallan who call this process “seasoning”. The Speyside distillery works together with several cooperages, for example with Tevasa and Vasyma in Jerez de la Frontera. The Macallan Terra is dedicated to those two cooperages. Notes of dry fruits, ripe apples, ginger, toffee and oak characterize its taste. It was bottled with 43.8 % ABV. And yes, the price resembles Macallan’s consequent premiumization.

Already in June we introduced the Macallan Quest. For that bottling whisky from Sherry seasoned casks from American and European oak, ex-Bourbon Casks and hogsheads were married. The other two releases of the new series are called Lumina and Enigma. We reported here about this new Macallan Quest Collection.
