Kilchoman presents Loch Gorm 2020
This year's release of the Sherry cask whisky edition of the Islay distillery is more fruity than last year's
Loch Gorm is the only regular edition of Kilchoman Single Malt Whisky, which is only batched from Sherry casks and every year fans of the Islay distillery are waiting for the new batch to be released. The edition of Loch Gorm 2020, which consists of Oloroso Sherry butts from 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2011, is limited to 15,500 bottles. The single malt is bottled unchill-filtered and uncolored at 46% ABV.
This Kilchoman line was named after Loch Gorm near the Rockside Farm, where the Kilchoman distillery is located. “The loch, murky and peaty in colour, reflects the dark copper tones of the sherry matured Loch Gorm release,” according to the distillery.
“The peat smoke and citrus sweetness of the Kilchoman spirit pairs beautifully with the rich influence of these oloroso sherry casks. Overall there are a lot of similarities between the 2019 and 2020 expressions however the 2020 bottling is much more fruit forward, there’s a bit less of the dry sherry influence and more dried fruits and cinnamon sweetness,” said Anthony Wills, Kilchoman Founder and Managing Director.
From April 6, 2020, this year's Kilchoman Loch Gorm is announced to appear in Europe and the United States, and thereafter on other international markets.
