Johnnie Walker Master Blender Dr. Jim Beveridge awarded Order of the British Empire

The OBE honors his service to the Scotch whisky industrie

On the occasion of the Queen’s birthday, a number of persons were honored for their outstanding service to Great Britain. One of them is Dr. Jim Beveridge, who is responsible for the blending of Diageo’s Johnnie Walker whiskies. For his many years of service to the Scottish whisky industry he now was awarded the OBE, the Order of the British Empire.

In Menstrie, Clackmanshire, Dr. Jim Beveridge leads a team of 12 blenders who are responsible for the quality assurance of Diageo’s whiskies. Close collaboration with coopers, distillers and other craftsmen involved in whisky production is also part of Beveridge's mission. For his art of blending, he has been honored several times by various institutions and also was inducted into the prestigious World Whisky Hall of Fame.

Johnnie Walker is the world's best-selling Scottish whisky brand: seven bottles on average are exported every second, Diageo reports proudly in a press release.

The award meets Dr. Beveridge in a very exciting and important time for the brand Johnnie Walker: The worldwide No. 1 Scottish whisky brand is in the focus of Diageo’s £150 million investment program. A new visitor center in the heart of Edinburgh and the expansion of 12 visitor centers in distilleries whose whisky is part of Johnnie Walker, should further strengthen the upward trend in whisky tourism.
