Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare launched

Special edition created from whisky of working and lost distilleries like Brora and Pittyvaich

From time to time Diageo releases special editions of the exclusive Johnnie Walker Blue Label. Now the start of a little series was announced. It is called “Ghost and Rare” and in those releases single malt from lost distilleries will be blended; the ghosts of those distilleries will probably join you enjoying the whisky… The Ghost and Rare Blends will also contain premium whisky from producing malt and grain distilleries.

Malt and grain whisky from eight distilleries

The first edition of Johnnie Walker Blue Label Ghost and Rare presents whisky from three lost distilleries: Brora malt as heart of the blend and Pittyvaich malt as well as grain whisky from Cambus Distillery. Together with these three Master Distiller Jim Beveridge blended whisky from the five producing distilleries of Clynelish, Royal Lochnagar, Glenkinchie, Glenlossie and Cameronbridge in this Ghost and Rare bottling. The launch of this Johnnie Walker meets a time when lost distilleries are highly rated and currently under discussion. Not long ago news have been reported about a re-opening of Port Ellen and Brora Distillery. Diageo will give new live to them.

Ananas aroma and hints of smoke characterize this Ghost and Rare

The Blue Label Ghost and Rare was bottled with 46% ABV. Each of these bottles is numbered; the total size of this edition hasn’t been communicated. Notes in the official press release talk about an aromatic, mellow whisky with a full body that is characterized by ananas, hazelnut and dark chocolate aroma and a lightly smoky finish.
