Highland Park Viking Heart 15 Year Old released

The whisky in the ceramic bottle complements the permanent range of the Orkney distillery

Highland Park Distillery presents their latest edition in an extraordinary bottle: the 15-year-old Highland Park Viking Heart shows up in ceramic bottles and joins the core range of the Orkney Islands-based distillery.

The single malt whisky was matured in first fill casks of European oak and first fill casks of American oak, which all had been seasoned with sherry, and to a smaller amount in refill casks. The marriage of the whisky from these three types of casks should ensure a rich aroma.

Gordon Motion, Master Whisky Maker at Highland Park, chose the casks himself and says, “Our insistence on specially constructed Sherry casks delivers a richness of flavour. Vanilla and citrus notes lead and combine with the unique fragrant peat and creamy mouthfeel synonymous with Highland Park. The hand selection of quality first-fill and refill casks for Highland Park 15 Year Old delivers a rich colour, which is 100% natural.”

The ceramic bottles were created in collaboration with the British company Wade Ceramics. The designers took inspiration from old earthenware vessels that were used in the distillery to store whisky a century or two ago.

The Highland Park Viking Heart 15 Year Old is bottled in natural colour at 44% ABV.
