Highland Park releases new travel value series
Highland Park strengthens its presence in the global travel retail market with four exclusive new bottlings
According to a recent press release from Highland Park, the award-winning Orkney single malt with Viking Soul will add another four bottlings selected exclusively for this distribution channel to its already strong range in travel retail worldwide. The special feature of this new collection is the reintroduction of an age statement. Created by Master Whisky Maker Gordon Motion, each of the four new single malts shows different aspects of Highland Park's unique and distinctive taste profile and natural colour, combined with an attractive packaging.
The four expressions are inspired by animals that held iconic status for the Vikings. Highland Park's island home of Orkney has been part of a vast Viking empire for over 600 years, and this influence continues to this day as the world-famous single malt is produced by today's descendants of the Vikings.
- Spirit of the Bear, NAS (1 litre)
A tribute to the bear, admired for its resilience and independence. The result is an intensely aromatic, smoky whisky with a natural, golden straw colour. Matured mainly in sherry-seasoned American Oak casks, this single malt is bottled at 40% abv.
Tasting notes: Smoke and peat, ginger root, freshly grated nutmeg and sweet vanilla pods.
- Loyality of the Wolf, 14 Years (1 litre)
This 14 Year Old single malt is sweet and complex with balanced and contrasting flavours. It reflects the character of the wolf, with which the Vikings felt very attached. The golden whisky is matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned American oak casks and ex-Bourbon casks and bottled at 42.3% abv.
Tasting notes: Vanilla sponge cake, baked apples with cinnamon, slightly smoky peat.
- Wings of the Eagle, 16 Years (0,7 litre)
Not only a central figure in the legends of the Vikings, but also the heart of the new series. Wings of the eagle is a spicy and elegant whisky, matured in a combination of sherry-seasoned European and American oak casks. It has a naturally bright amber colour and is bottled at 44.5% abv.
Tasting notes: Sweet figs and apricots, warm nutmeg, chocolate coated marzipan and aromatic peat smoke.
- Viking Pride Travel Edition, 18 Years (0,7 litre)
The highlight of the collection: an 18 Year Old single malt, mainly matured in sherry-seasoned European oak casks, with a natural dark colour and full taste. Bottled at 46% abv.
Tasting notes: Cherry jam, rich dark chocolate, heather honey with aromatic peat smoke.
Launch starts July 2018
The first three bottlings will be available in European travel retail from July 2018 and the 18 Year Old Viking Pride Travel Edition will follow later this summer. The complete new exclusive collection will be available shortly thereafter, probably from September, in major Asian and Middle Eastern airports and from December on the American continent.
