Heaven Hill fills 9 millionth barrel

The Kentucky distillery reached the milestone before the turn of the year

It is an impressive number that adorns the milestone barrel of Heaven Hill Distillery: 9,000,000. It stands for 9,000,000 barrels filled over the decades by the Kentucky distillery, founded in 1935. On December 30, 2020, the important event of filling this milestone barrel took place.

“In a year defined by teamwork and perseverance, today we celebrate another historic Heaven Hill milestone as we fill the nine millionth barrel of Bourbon,” Max L. Shapira, President of Heaven Hill, said. “This nine millionth barrel, a rare achievement in the industry, is a testament to Heaven Hill’s commitment to quality and consistency since 1935.”

The family-owned Bernheim Distillery of Heaven Hill Distillers is the largest single-site bourbon distillery, producing 1,300 barrels a day down in Louisville. More than 1,8 million barrels are currently maturing in 63 warehouses across Kentucky. The barrel no. 9,000,000 will find a special place in Rickhouse Y in Bardstown, where other milestone barrels have already been stored.

Heaven Hill Distillery's portfolio includes numerous well-known whiskey brands such as Elijah Craig, Evan Williams, Pikesville Rye Whiskey, Rittenhouse Rye Whiskey and the Larceny Barrel Proof Bourbon, which was named Whisky of the Year 2020 by the Whisky Advocate.

After a lot of investment has been made in the modern distillery in Louisville in recent years, the visitor center in Bardstown is currently also being extensively renovated. In order to meet the growing interest in visitor tours, a Bourbon Heritage Center with tasting rooms is being built here at the Bourbon Trail. It is scheduled to open in spring 2021
