Glenfiddich Winter Storm: Hotly sought-after
Limited release meets high demand
It hasn’t been long since the Glenfiddich Winter Storm was released as a third edition of the Experimental Series of Dufftown’s famous distillery. Following the Glenfiddich IPA and the Glenfiddich Project XX the Winter Storm is the first one of the series to wear an age statement on the label and it is a rather impressive one: 21 years. Only a long matured whisky like this one could handle the intensive aromas of those special Winter Storm finishing casks, Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman declared. The casks hosted ice wine of the Canadian Peller Estate Winery in Niagara before.
All this sounds very tempting and many Glenfiddich fans are looking forward to the Winter Storm, but unfortunately the bottling in the amazing white ceramic bottle is hard to get because of its limitation. “Out of stock” can be read in almost every shop and if you can discover it somewhere the price is remarkably higher than the original price of about £200.
Official tasting notes of the Glenfiddich Winter Storm
NOSE: A bouquet of tropical fruit and candied sweets are perfectly balanced with underlying wine notes.
TASTE: Soft sweet notes reminiscent of candied fruit and Turkish delight develop into flavours of mouth watering lychee. The fusion of sweet flavours is soon met with a rich drying sensation from the Icewine.
FINISH: Short and crisp.
