Glenfiddich will auction Spirit of Speyside Distillery Edition 2020 for charity

A single cask whisky with a sherry cask finish, bottled at 65.7% vol

Glenfiddich has announced the auction of a special whisky release for June: The Glenfiddich Spirit of Speyside Distillery Edition 2020 is a 13-year-old single malt whisky, which was finished in the sherry cask with the number 25427 and bottled with extraordinary 65.7% ABV. 450 bottles will be available, but they are not regularly sold at the distillery or at retail whisky shops but will be auctioned on June 17-22, 2020 on the Whisky Auctioneer platform. The proceeds will go to a fund supporting the local community around the Dufftown distillery.

The Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected the economy in the Speyside. Many businesses depend on tourism and this year Corona will cause significant losses. The cancellation of the Spirit of Speyside Whiskey Festival 2020 hits the region hard and so Glenfiddich decided to launch a festival bottling as every year, but this year donate the proceeds to charity funds.

“The local community has been at the heart of Glenfiddich since 1887 when William Grant opened our distillery in Dufftown,” said Struan Grant Ralph, Global Brand Ambassador of Glenfiddich. “We hope the release of the Spirit of Speyside Distillery Edition 2020 is a fitting tribute to William Grant and his legacy in the Speyside community.”

Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman was responsible for the selection of the whisky, and he will also personally sign the 450 hand-numbered bottles of Glenfiddich Spirit of Speyside Distillery Edition 2020.
